In memory of those who have died during the Covid-19 Pandemic, Trinity Cathedral will be joining churches across the nation on Tuesday, January 19 at 5:30 pm and tolling their bells.
Join us at 5:15 pm for a brief service of Evening Prayer followed by the Tolling of the Bells at 5:30 pm streamed live on our Facebook Page.
Through out history church bells have tolled to call communities to worship and prayer and mark moments of joy and sorrow for communities. On Tuesday, Trinity Cathedral bells will toll in memory of the nearly 400,000 Americans who have lost their lives to the virus. The bells will strike 400 times each representing approximately 1,000 lives.
Calvary Episcopal Church in Shadyside and Redeemer Episcopal Church in Squirrel Hill will also ring their bells on Tuesday evening.
Father of all, we pray to you for all those whom we love but see no longer. Grant to them eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon them. May the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.Prayers for the Departed, The Book of Common Prayer
