Holy Week and Easter Services at Trinity Cathedral

All are welcome at Trinity Cathedral! Whoever you are, wherever you are in your faith journey, you are welcome here.

We have an accessible entrance at 325 Oliver Avenue. Please view our parking options. If you park in the designated garages on Sunday and validate your ticket at either entrance of the Cathedral nave, your parking is discounted to $1.00.

Masks are not required, but encouraged and recommended. Our clergy and choir will remain masked during the services. We encourage people to maintain social distance particularly is someone has chosen to be masked.

Holy Week and Easter Services

Sunday, April 10, The Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday: At 8:30 am and 10:30 am. Services will be held at 8:30 am in the Chapel and at 10:30 am in the Cathedral Nave. Both services will include the blessing of the palms. Weather permitting we will gather outside for the 10:30 am service to bless the palms and process in together. If there is inclement weather, we will gather in the Parish Hall. The 10:30 am service will be streamed online.

Tuesday, April 12, Chrism Mass: At 10:00 am. This is an ecumenical service with the ELCA Synod of the blessing of oils and renewal of vows for clergy. All are welcome to attend. The service will begin at 10:00 am. The service will be streamed online.

Any clergy attending and planning to vest, please arrive 15-20 minutes early. Vesting will take place on the second floor and clergy will line-up for the procession in the hallway between the Parish Hall and elevator.

Thursday, April 14, Maundy Thursday: At 7:00 pm. This service of Holy Eucharist and stripping of the altar begins the Paschal Triduum. Our service will begin at 7:00 pm in the Cathedral Nave. The service will be streamed online.

Friday, April 15, Good Friday: At 12:05 pm. Good Friday service will begin at 12:05 pm in the Cathedral Nave. The Rt. Rev. Ketlen A. Solak, Bishop of Pittsburgh will preside and The Very Rev. Aidan Smith, Dean of Trinity Cathedral, will preach. The service will be streamed online.

Saturday, April 16, Holy Saturday: At Noon. Holy Saturday service will take place at Noon in the Cathedral Nave. It is a service of Liturgy of the Word and prayer. The service will be streamed online.

Sunday, April 17, Easter Sunday: At 8:30 and 10:30 am. We will have two service one at 8:30 am in the Chapel with The Very Rev. Aidan, Dean of Trinity Cathedral, celebrating and preaching. There will be a Festival Holy Eucharist 10:30 am in the Cathedral Nave and The Rt. Rev. Ketlen A. Solak, Bishop of Pittsburgh will be celebrating and preaching. The service will be streamed online.

A reception will follow the 10:30 service which all are invited to attend.

Evening Prayer and Preaching Series on Wednesday Evening

Join us at 7:00 pm on Wednesdays during Lent for an Evening Prayer and homily. All services will be in-person and streamed online.

Wednesday, April 6: The Rev. Brandon Cooper, Christ Church, North Hills, will preach and The Very Rev. Aidan Smith will officiate.

Has the church ever seemed weird during Lent? Have you ever wondered where some of our traditions and practices came from? Are you curious about what Lent is all about? This Christian Education series may be for you. Join us for the Sundays of Lent at 9:15 am in the Blue Room on the 2nd floor.
