Are you interested in being more involved in worship and the Trinity Cathedral community? Below are a few of the opportunities. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information contact Bonnie-Marie Yager-Wiggan at byagerwiggan@trinitycathedralpgh.org.

Altar Guild: The primary duty of Altar Guild members is to ready the table for Eucharist. Members prepare the linens, candles, and sacred vessels and care for the four altars of the Cathedral. Altar Guild members also assist in weddings, funerals, baptisms, and special Diocesan services such as ordination. Currently, the focus is on Sunday mornings.

New volunteers are welcomed (and often needed!) They are also trained by the staff of the Cathedral and other Altar Guild members. There is also additional training for new COVID-19 protocols.

Acolytes: Adults, youth, and children are invited to serve as acolytes in our primary Sunday service at 10:30 am. Acolytes serve as crucifer, torch bearers, and assist at the altar as needed. Training is provided for those interested.

Lectors: Lectors serve on Sunday as readers of the Scripture. This is an important ministry and gift to the community to hear the Scripture read aloud and well. A brief training is offered for those interested.

Greeters and Ushers: Greeters and ushers welcome those coming to worship, assist in taking up the offering, bringing the gifts to the table, and help direct those to communion. During this time there are new COVID-19 protocols and ushers will assist in answering questions, providing masks if needed, and direct people to the hand-sanitizing stations at both entrances. Training is provided.

Walk-In Ministry: Trinity Cathedral provides an emergency food bank and walk-in ministry once every five weeks in rotation with the Downtown Ministerium. Volunteers assist clients with the food bank.
